Healthier and cashless bubble tea at UTown

NUS Executive MBA (Chinese) (Class of 2014) alumnus Kang Puay Seng has opened his fourth Gong Cha outlet at UTown on 25 January.

The branch is focused on offering a range of healthier drinks and going completely cashless – a move that keeps his business abreast of customer trends, said Mr Kang.

Thirteen drinks, about a quarter of the menu, have the Healthier Choice symbol based on the Health Promotion Board (HPB)’s guidelines on sugar levels. Meanwhile, the UTown outlet is the first out of some 1500 Gong Cha stores around the world) to go completely cashless.

But there might not have been a cashless system and healthy drinks menu if Mr Kang had not studied at the EMBA Chinese programme.

While the exposure to his classmates – mostly entrepreneurs and business leaders from all over the world opened his mind, “the programme taught me that one must constantly innovate,” said Mr Kang.
