Getting Up close and Personal with Senior FMCG industry professionals

With the changing landscape of consumer marketing, what is it like to work for leading FMCG companies? What is exciting, monotonous or challenging in marketing professions and what is the career progression like?

60 undergraduate and graduate students recently had a chance to find out when they got up close and personal with a team of accomplished experts –  Ethan Lim, Madhav Nayak, Carissa Dizon, Anirban Dattagupta and Sharad Lal – from leading consumer brands like P&G, Unilever and General Mills.

The speakers  started off the session by busting some common myths about careers in marketing, shared a typical day in the life of a marketer, actual projects and finally, tips and advice on ‘getting in’ – the selection process, interviews, assessments etc. at the leading brands.

Through the Q&A and networking sessions, students were able to tap on experts’ knowledge of the industry and insights to make an informed decision about pursuing a career in consumer marketing.

The event, “CLK.org Presents – A Career in Consumer Marketing,” was a part of a series of career conversations, initiated by the Career Services team, called “Up-Close & Personal.” These talks are intended to help students make informed choices about planning their careers through industry interaction.

By sharing their personal journeys, industry leaders and experts not only offer insights, knowledge and awareness of career trends, but also enable the students to develop the right mind-set with best career practices as they transition to the professional world.
