The Auditor-General’s Office (AGO) is to sponsor an Outstanding Achievement Award for NUS Business School undergraduates. Auditor-General Willie Tan and Dean Professor Bernard Yeung signed a Memorandum of Understanding on December 10, 2014, which will offer award recipients the opportunity of an internship with the AGO. The award will be given to the top third-year Bachelor of Accountancy undergraduate from the School each year.
The AGO emphasized the need for sharp and analytical individuals who are adaptable, given the changing accounting landscape, yet act with integrity. It aims to encourage young talent to pursue rewarding accounting careers through the award.
“We prepare our students with rigorous analytics and relevant business knowledge. At the same time, we look forward to working with the AGO as we strive to develop leaders with the right values, including integrity and ethics,” said Professor Yeung, Dean and Stephen Riady Distinguished Professor.
“The role of the AGO is significant in Singapore’s public sector. It is a great privilege for NUS Business School to have the AGO as an education and training partner for our accountancy students. The School looks forward to supplying young talent to the AGO which will enable it to continue its fine tradition of keeping the public sector effective and efficient,” said Professor Ho Yew Kee, Head of the Department of Accounting at the School.
